MADD Welcomes New Members to the Board of Directors to Drive the Lifesaving Mission Forward

Newly Appointed Members Bring Expertise and Passion to Advance MADD's Mission to End Impaired Driving

IRVING, Texas, Feb. 5, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Mothers Against Drunk Driving® (MADD) is honored to announce our newest National Board of Directors members, James Wetrich, Colin Campbell, Twanna Harris, Jill Hazelbaker, Carolyn Murray, Kelly Walters Schulz, and Britta Steinbrenner. These incoming leaders will help MADD address the 33% surge in impaired driving since 2019, bringing their deep expertise and unwavering commitment to advancing MADD's lifesaving mission.

James G. Wetrich is a CEO Mentor with Building Champions, a leadership and executive coaching firm. An International Coaching Federation-certified professional coach, he brings over 45 years of leadership experience in the healthcare industry across three continents and has logged over 1,500 coaching hours. Before joining Building Champions, Jim led The Wetrich Group of Companies, a consulting firm he founded in 2001. Jim has held senior leadership roles at Providence Health & Services, Molnlycke Health Care, Abbott Laboratories, University Health System Consortium, Pitts Management Associates, and the Metropolitan Hospital Council of New Orleans. He teaches marketing and consumer behavior at Texas Wesleyan University's School of Business. Jim serves as vice chair of the International Coaching Federation board and has previously served on the Meals on Wheels Association board.

Colin Campbell is an Academy Award-nominated writer and director with a distinguished career in theater and film. He has taught theater and/or filmmaking at Chapman University, Loyola Marymount University, Cal Poly Pomona University, as well as to incarcerated youth through The Unusual Suspects. In 2019, after losing his two teenage children to a drunk and high driver, Campbell turned to writing as a way to navigate grief. His book, Finding the Words: Working Through Profound Loss with Hope and Purpose, was published by Penguin Random House in 2023. His essays on grief and resilience have been featured in The Atlantic, The Los Angeles Times, and Modern Loss, and he has shared his insights on dozens of podcasts.

Twanna Harris is a visionary leader, social entrepreneur, and proud mother of four children, including a current six-year NFL player and a collegiate athlete. With over two decades of executive marketing experience, she has established herself as a trailblazer in brand strategy, entertainment marketing, and community advocacy, driving initiatives that create lasting social impact. As the League of Industry Moms (LOIM) founder, Twanna provides mothers of professional athletes and artists with the tools, resources, and trusted community they need to navigate the sports and entertainment industries. She is passionate about helping them protect their legacies, foster generational wealth, and lead with confidence in high-stakes industries. Committed to promoting equity and raising awareness, Twanna also champions initiatives that help families navigate the emotional and social challenges of impaired driving.

Jill Hazelbaker is the Chief Marketing Officer and Senior Vice President of Corporate Affairs at Uber, overseeing a $2 billion portfolio across communications, public policy, external affairs, and marketing. She leads a global team of 1,000+ professionals in more than 70 countries. Since becoming CMO, Uber's business has more than doubled, monthly active customers have grown by over 50%, and the company has become one of the world's largest sources of flexible work. Jill also serves as an Executive Officer at Uber. Before joining Uber, Jill led global communications and public policy at Snapchat, served as Google's head of communications across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, as well as government relations across Europe, and worked as Press Secretary for New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg's 2009 re-election campaign. She was also National Communications Director and Chief Spokesperson for Senator John McCain's 2008 presidential campaign. Jill sits on the Board of Trustees for the McCain Institute and is a Trustee at the Schools of the Sacred Heart.

Carolyn Murray is a Business Development Executive at Moss Adams, a top 12 public accounting firm, where she focuses on client satisfaction and growth. A former CPA, she began her career as a Big 4 auditor and later served as an audit manager for a global hospitality company. At Moss Adams, she drives go-to-market strategy, relationship management, and the delivery of the firm's full suite of services, including audit, tax, compliance, transaction advisory, and consulting. Beyond her professional work, Carolyn is committed to community service. She served on the board of St. Philip & St. Augustine Catholic Academy, a school in East Dallas supporting underprivileged students, and volunteers at Vickery Meadow Food Pantry. Carolyn is also a survivor of an impaired driving crash. At 18, she lost her best friend, Elaine Hull, along with three others in a tragic crash—an experience that fuels her dedication to impaired driving prevention.

Kelly Walters Schulz is a partner at Frost Brown Todd, bringing nearly 25 years of experience advising manufacturing clients. She specializes in supply chain management, contract negotiations, development agreements, warranty claims, supply agreements, distressed supplier workouts, and handling legal matters across the Midwest and nationally. Before joining the firm, she worked in-house at Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America, Inc. Beyond her legal career, Kelly is committed to community service, having served on multiple boards, including the United Way and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. She has been personally impacted by drunk driving and is dedicated to driving change and preventing further loss.

Britta Steinbrenner is a retired Chief of Public Safety at Pepperdine University, following a distinguished 35-year career as a Captain in the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. At Pepperdine, she led the university's safety efforts through challenging moments, including the tragic loss of four senior students killed by a distracted and speeding driver. During her tenure at LACSD, Britta held leadership roles in custody, patrol, media relations, human resources, fiscal and risk management, emergency preparedness, and Homeland Security. She managed the department's Media & Public Relations Bureau, established the Community Partnerships Bureau to unify community-based policing efforts, and oversaw security for six county hospitals, 85 libraries, and 320 county buildings—all while managing a $130 million budget. She also played a pivotal role in 2020 during the civil unrest following George Floyd's death and the coronavirus pandemic, helping to coordinate critical law enforcement responses. Following her law enforcement career, Britta became the first female candidate for Sheriff of Los Angeles County.
