Magnum Opus Unveiled At The 41st Annual Macy's Flower Show At Herald Square
GARDEN GALLERIES CELEBRATE THE CLASSIC GENRES OF THE FINE ARTS DURING THE ANNUAL FAVORITE
NEW YORK, March 17, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Macy's Herald Square unveils its latest work of art in floral beauty, with the opening of the iconic store's 41st annual Flower Show. Inspired by the great works of fine art, Art in Bloom is a masterpiece in design, structure, texture and color. Taking root on the Main Floor and beyond are eight intoxicating garden genres: Abstract; Pop Art; Impressionist; Art Nouveau; Contemporary; Surrealism; Renaissance and Portrait Gallery. This new approach to this time honored, much anticipated event will invigorate the senses and appeal to every palette.
As a welcome to the vernal equinox, Macy's fabulous floral display will surprise and delight all who cross the threshold of the famed Herald Square Broadway doors. Beginning Sunday, March 22nd until Saturday, April 4th, this springtime tradition transforms the majestic Main Floor of Macy's iconic flagship from New York's shopping epicenter to a galleries des artes.

A collection of art like no other, visitors will recognize the great works that served as the inspiration to creating Art in Bloom throughout the entire show. Guests will see ballerina sculptures, statues and framed floral portraits that will remind them of the classic works that reside in the world's most renowned museum collections. The designers have used every column, staircase, case-line and balcony of the Main Floor as a canvas to create works of art that parallel the masterpieces that inspired this art movement. Additionally, the Flower Show will take visitors on a journey to the Far East, as it celebrates the Chinese year of the goat and China's Great Stone Forest with two impressive gardens. The entire main floor of Herald Square is a meandering milieu of textured exhibits, blossoming buttresses and colorful composition -- a perfect respite from the chilly first days of spring.

This year art will bloom inside and out, and from the top to the bottom of the Main Floor. The six famed windows that line Broadway will serve as individual framed installations, celebrating the Classic and Modern genres, while floral poster and cherry trees will line the 34th and 35th Street aisles, also known as Luxury Hall.
In an effort to further enhance the gallery setting, Macy's has incorporated technology into tradition at Art in Bloom. Upon entry, the Show's centerpiece, David, the perfectly sculpted male form, will greet visitors from atop his specially designed floral plinth. Projected onto David's alabaster form will be a series of pixel mapping, moving flower images. Along the aisle that connects 34th and 35th streets, guests will see, smell and hear the flowers as they make their way through the store.
Moey Inc, the company that is responsible for creating unforgettable, interactive experiences has designed a floral installation that not only complements the flowers in the Pop Art garden, but invites guests to take part in a floral, aural experience. Highlighting the Pop Art garden will be twenty-four, six-inch 3D printed interactive flowers that respond human movement, proximity and duration with light and sound.
New to this year's Flower Show is the Artista Impresso by JixiPix, which allows spectators to become floral artistes when they download the specially created app. Available for iOS and Android™ devices, Artista Impresso photo app transforms Flower Show snapshots into stroke filled impressionist masterpieces.
The 41st Annual Flower Show will open on the morning of Sunday, March 22nd with a ceremonial ribbon cutting by the Show's Executive Producer, Mike Gansmoe and Martha Stewart, who has also designed the first of seven Bouquets of the Day.
