TYSONS CORNER, Va., Jan. 19, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Management Concepts Inc., the nation's premier provider of professional development, performance improvement, and human capital solutions for the public sector, today, in partnership with Government Business Council (GBC), announces the release of the report "Unleveraged Talent: Exploring Gaps in Federal Workforce Management."
In order to further explore issues and challenges hampering Federal talent management strategies, Management Concepts and GBC partnered to survey Federal workers from over 30 different departments and agencies. While responses showed roughly half of all respondents were confident in their organization's ability to maintain productivity throughout the new Presidential transition, survey results otherwise described a workforce that desires a variety of improvements to workforce management and strategies for talent management.
Key findings include:
- Over 70% of respondents report that their organization faces critical workforce skills gaps.
- Only 29% of respondents agree or strongly agree that employees within their organization advance based on skills/achievements.
- 82% of respondents feel their managers are unresponsive or slow to address reported employee issues, such as training needs and performance issues.
- 72% of respondents said their organization either has talent management guidelines in place and does not consistently refer to them or has not clearly defined or employed such guidelines.
