CHICAGO and WHEATON, Ill., Oct. 29, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Northwestern Memorial HealthCare (NMHC) and the Wheaton Franciscan Sisters announced today that Marianjoy Rehabilitation Hospital, a 127-bed nonprofit rehabilitation and teaching hospital, is expected to become a member of Northwestern Medicine in 2016. NMHC and Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare have signed a Letter of Intent to finalize the terms of the transfer, which is subject to corporate and regulatory approvals.

Founded in 1972, Marianjoy Rehabilitation Hospital is dedicated to the delivery of physical medicine and rehabilitation programs, including stroke, neuromuscular, orthopedic, brain injury, spinal cord injury, and pediatrics. With 100 acute medical rehabilitation beds and 27 skilled nursing beds, Marianjoy has a long history of providing outstanding care to patients in Chicago's western suburbs.
