Marianjoy Wins First Annual Innovation in Quality Award

WHEATON, Ill., Oct. 17, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Marianjoy Rehabilitation Hospital is the recipient of the first annual Innovation in Quality Award for Specialty Hospitals from the Illinois Hospital Association (IHA). Marianjoy was one of six hospitals and health systems statewide receiving the Quality Care Institute's first annual awards, which are given to acknowledge outstanding quality improvement programs – all focusing on better patient care and outcomes.

The award was given for Marianjoy's "Journey to Discharge" tool – a key component in measuring and improving patient satisfaction, which had a substantial impact on Marianjoy's patient satisfaction scores over the last two years. Kathleen accepted the award on behalf of the hospital during the 2011 IHA Leadership Summit in Lombard on September 20.

Kathleen Ruroede, Ph.D., Vice President of Research & Quality at Marianjoy worked diligently on telling Marianjoy's "story" and submitted the application for the IHA awards. More than 50 quality improvement projects were submitted by hospitals from across the state to be considered for the inaugural awards. Recipients were selected by a panel of nationally-recognized quality improvement leaders.
