This is part of the company's pledge to serve 10,000 students in computer science by 2020.

For Hour of Code, Marketo is focusing on raising awareness for and increasing diversity in computer science education, particularly for girls and students from underserved communities. Activities launch in December from the company's global headquarters in San Mateo, Calif., with a coding event with kickoff remarks from city officials. Additional events are planned in offices in Atlanta; Denver, Colo.; Dublin, Ireland; Portland, Ore.; Tel Aviv; and Tokyo. Partnership with local organizations in each of these cities, as well as virtual events with global entities, has made these activities possible.
The Global Hour of Code initiative comes on the heels of Marketo's third-annual Global Volunteer Month, which focused on inspiring student success in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). All of these initiatives are part of Marketo Engaged, the company's social good program founded in 2015 that focuses on empowering underserved students on their journeys to and through college.
