Maryhill Winery Will Open Second Satellite Tasting Room at the Up-and-Coming Vancouver Waterfront
Columbia Gorge-based winery will offer award-winning wines and scenic views from its tasting room at the Grant Street Pier in Vancouver
GOLDENDALE, Wash., Aug. 13, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Maryhill Winery is making it easier for people in the Portland-Vancouver metro to access its high-quality, affordable wines. The winery based in Goldendale, Wash., in the Columbia River Gorge is preparing to open a 4,890-square-foot tasting room in Vancouver, Wash., in the city's highly anticipated redeveloped waterfront district, The Waterfront Vancouver, USA. The new venue, Maryhill's second satellite tasting room, is expected to open this winter.
Maryhill's tasting room at The Waterfront will be located near Grant Street Pier, an iconic and interactive public art piece designed by nationally renowned public artist Larry Kirkland. Situated along the Columbia River Renaissance Trail, Grant Street Pier will be a focal point of The Waterfront. Whether sipping wine from inside the tasting room or from Maryhill's expansive outdoor patio, patrons will enjoy breathtaking views of the Columbia River and Mount Hood.
"We've been eyeing the Vancouver market for many years," says Craig Leuthold, co-owner of Maryhill Winery. "The city's waterfront district along the Columbia River is a natural fit for us, given that our two other Washington tasting rooms — our flagship tasting room in Goldendale and our tasting room in Spokane — are also riverfront properties. Leuthold founded Maryhill Winery in 1999 with his wife, Vicki, and has grown the company into one of Washington's largest and most acclaimed wineries. Maryhill partners with 12 growers and 23 unique vineyard locations to produce 80,000 cases annually. Its winemaker, Richard Batchelor, has won numerous awards, including the 2018 Winemaker of the Year trophy at the annual Indy International Wine Competition.
Maryhill opened its first satellite tasting room in Spokane in late 2017. The Waterfront tasting room in Vancouver will have a similar design and feel. The redeveloped Vancouver waterfront includes a new 7-acre park, Grant Street Pier designed by nationally-renowned public artist Larry Kirkland, shops, restaurants and residential buildings. A public-private partnership between the City of Vancouver and Gramor Development, The Waterfront provides a unique opportunity for Maryhill Winery to reach both locals and visitors in a modern, economically diverse neighborhood.
