WASHINGTON, April 1, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- The Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR), the nation's preeminent immigration reform advocacy organization, today joined with likeminded groups to launch a playbook laying out a strategic blueprint to remove the millions of illegal aliens still in our country.
During the first year of his administration, President Trump moved effectively to arrest and remove the "worst of the worst" – foreign nationals who posed a threat to public safety and national security. FAIR, as part of the Mass Deportation Coalition, is calling on the administration to move on to Phase Two of the effort with stepped up worksite enforcement, the removal of millions of visa overstays, and deporting the roughly 1.5 million illegal aliens still in the country despite final orders of removal.
"Enforcing our immigration laws, after the unprecedented lawlessness of the Biden administration, was central to Trump's 2024 campaign," said Dale Wilcox, executive director and general counsel of FAIR. "During his first year back in office, he kept his promise to secure our borders, end catch-and-release and halt the abuse of our asylum policies. His administration has also deported about 350,000 illegal aliens – mostly criminals and national security threats – while hundreds of thousands of other illegal aliens saw the writing on the wall and returned home on their own.
"By FAIR's estimates, at least 18.6 million illegal aliens were in the country when President Trump took office last year, which means there is much more to be done to undo decades of unenforced immigration laws," Wilcox continued. "The second phase of the president's deportation effort must ramp up arrests and removals of people who are in the country illegally while, at the same time, sending a clear message to millions of other illegal aliens that it is time for them to leave on their own.
The Mass Deportation Coalition is calling for a whole-of-government approach to expand deportations and reverse the flow of illegal immigration. Achieving that goal means information-sharing between ICE and key federal agencies like the IRS and the Social Security Administration and targeting and punishing businesses that knowingly hire illegal aliens.
"The voters gave President Trump a clear mandate to remove the millions of illegal aliens in this country, including those allowed in under the anti-borders Biden administration. He has effectively carried out the first phase of that effort, but the job is far from done. Finishing the job will require expanded ICE enforcement, coupled with a systematic elimination of policies that reward or accommodate people who are here in violation of our laws," concluded Wilcox.
