MassMutual Launches Campaign to Help Americans Discover their Roots, Plan their Futures

SPRINGFIELD, Mass., Feb. 23, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- In conjunction with Black History Month, a new campaign launched this month invites Americans to discover their past and look towards the legacy that they want to leave. Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company's (MassMutual) #JourneyOfYou campaign is collecting stories of the past to inform the future.

Visitors are encouraged to view shared stories online—including blog posts and articles from prominent African-Americans—recounting how their  family members have inspired them and the legacy that they want to leave for their children. The inspirational collection of personal experiences can serve as a catalyst to get Americans sharing their own personal stories about their families' journeys and thinking about planning their legacies for the next generation.

Nationally known and respected leaders in the African American community participating through a partnership with TheRoot.com include:

• Hill Harper, author, scholar, actor and one of the stars of the newly released film, The Boy Next Door
• Rob Hardy, award-winning author, producer and founder of Rainforest films, the production company behind Think Like a Man Too
• Dr. Henry Louis Gates, Jr., Harvard professor and Emmy Award-winning filmmaker
