SPRINGFIELD, Mass., Dec. 18, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Latina Style, one of the most influential publications for Hispanic professional women, announced that Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company's (MassMutual) employee resource group (ERG) for Hispanic employees has been recognized as one of the top five ERGs of 2013 in the country.
The honor was bestowed on ALMMA (Association of Latinos at MassMutual and Allies) in recognition of its excellence in corporate leadership, mentorship and dedication to working on behalf of the Latino Community. The recognition was announced in the November/December issue of Latino Style, and the ALMMA leadership will accept the award at the Diversity Leaders Conference on Feb. 6, 2014, in Washington D.C.
ALMMA executive sponsor Betsy Ward, Executive Vice President and Chief Enterprise Risk Officer, MassMutual, praised the ERG leadership and members, who "work tirelessly to provide professional development opportunities for members, resources to help Latino families in our community prepare for their futures and to brand MassMutual as the employer of choice for Latinos."
"This recognition is gratifying both for ALMMA and MassMutual," said Lorie Valle-Yanez, Vice President and Chief Diversity Officer, MassMutual. "The external award further validates the internal recognition that we are seeing from our own employees, who have ranked the company higher each year since 2010 on Diversity & Inclusion. Currently, 85 percent of our employees agree that MassMutual encourages and promotes diversity of backgrounds, talent and perspectives," she added.
Latina Style launched 19 years ago as one of the first national magazines dedicated to the needs and concerns of contemporary Latina professional working women and business owners in the U.S. The publication has recognized exceptional Hispanic ERGs for four years for providing a positive work environment where talented Latinas can shine. Last year, internationally recognized leaders in Diversity & Inclusion, such as ConAgra, CISCO and Johnson & Johnson were recognized.
