Material Matters: Reaching Medical Device Goals with Plastics Technologies
CLEVELAND, March 19, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- It's back for its fifth year and it's better than ever.
The 2014 Plastics in Medical Devices conference, organized by Plastics News, will be held May 6-8 at the newly opened Cleveland Convention Center in Cleveland, Ohio. A reception on the evening of May 7 will include tours of the Global Center for Health Innovation.
The conference and exhibits will feature the latest innovations in plastics technologies for the medical device market. It will include regulatory updates and information with a featured speaker from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
"It's not a coincidence that advancements in the medical community are evolving at the same fast pace as those in plastics," said Brennan Lafferty, publisher of Plastics News. "Our Plastics in Medical Devices conference shows our commitment to keeping our community informed of the business opportunities and challenges in the healthcare field.
"We're excited to bring PMD back to Cleveland, a vibrant hub for plastics and medical devices. Our speakers and attendees are in for a treat when we tour the medical device development labs at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation."
Space is limited on that tour, scheduled for May 6, where participants get an inside look at Medical Device Solutions at CCF. The MDS group is within the Lerner Research Institute and features polymer labs, 3D printing and a machine shop where researchers and engineers create medical devices used at the Clinic every day.
On May 7-8, visit exhibitors and hear from expert speakers.
Speakers Include:
Gene Jung, Sr. Director, Product Development at the Global Cardiovascular Innovation Center at Cleveland Clinic Innovations.
Steve Hentges, Ph.D., Executive Director, Polycarbonate/BPA Group of the American Chemistry Council, who will discuss "Polycarbonate Safety in Medical Applications: Bisphenol A & Recent Findings."
Jose Reyes, Global Strategic Market Manager, EVA Polymers, of Celanese Corp., will cover "Ethylene Vinyl Acetate for Advancing Innovation in Healthcare."
Aram Nerpouni, President & CEO of Cleveland-based BioEnterprise Corp. will discuss "Medical Innovation Acceleration in Ohio."
