CHICAGO, Sept. 25, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- MathCON, the national student math competition, registration is now open for any students in grades 5-12 nationwide.
MathCON is a nationally-acclaimed nonprofit mathematics organization recognized for its two-part math competition that gives students (public, private, charter and home-schooled) the opportunity to compete against mathematics students across the United States.
The online competition takes place between Jan. 22 and March 2, 2018, and on-site on May 5, 2018 in Chicago, Illinois, for qualifying students.
Schools can register an unlimited number of students for $150 until Nov. 22 via credit card (PayPal), purchase order, or check. Individual students may also register for only $10 each. Registration will remain open until March 1, 2018, for a registration fee of $200 after Nov. 22.
As MathCON is fast-approaching its 10th year, it has transitioned from a competition to a fully interactive organization. MathCON has had more than 200,000 students participate since 2008, and 50,000 students participated in 2017. Competition questions are written by published mathematicians across the country, including the MathCON founder and chair, Ayhan Caputlu.
"Since our growth, we've completely rebranded. We want the new look and feel of MathCON to grow up with the organization. As we're taking big steps towards growing into something much more than just a math competition, the face of MathCON is also changing," said Caputlu.
Alongside the rebrand, MathCON is expanding in multiple areas outside of the competition. The new website currently serves as a growing resource center for students as they prepare for the online round of the competition.
