Matt Sheridan and Sheridan Landscaping Plan to Donate All-Purpose Court to Plymouth YMCA

PLYMOUTH, Mass., Nov. 5, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Sheridan Landscaping — a hardscape, landscape and grounds maintenance company in Plymouth, Massachusetts — is in the process of constructing an all-purpose, multi-surface court for the Plymouth YMCA. Children using the court will be able to skate on the court, play street hockey, play basketball, and more. Matt Sheridan, owner of Sheridan Landscaping, said they are giving the court to the YMCA free of cost and that they do something similar every year.

"Last year we did a project on their pond front," said Matt, "cleaning it up and bringing in sand to make it more accessible for the kids."

An active donor to the YMCA, Sheridan has completed both free and paid projects for the organization for years. He handles most of the projects for the YMCA himself, from the initial site visit to the project's end. He said his devotion stems from his childhood history with the organization.

"My brother and I attended camp there when we were kids. The YMCA is a great organization," said Matt. "Originally, the mother of a friend of mine who worked there for years reached out to us with an opportunity. We've done a bunch of work for them since then, much of it donated."

Although quality and attention to detail are always the driving forces behind all of his company's hardscape design and installation projects, Sheridan said he always goes the extra mile for the children at the YMCA.

"Any labor we donate to the YMCA we take just as seriously as our paid projects, if not more so. When kids are involved, you take it to the next level because you know your work will have an impact on them. Our goal is to walk away proud of our work, knowing everything is safe and there are no issues."

Finally, Sheridan said he believes more companies should donate their time and energy to a good cause, if they can, and that he's excited to continue working with the YMCA: "You've got to remember where you came from. I think more companies who can do things like this should try to help out. The YMCA is important to the community. We can't wait to do more work for them. We'll always do whatever we can to make them and the kids happy."
