Maui by Design Hawaiian Wristlet Bags Bring Hawaii to Colder Climates
Neutral colors and subtle designs are key to make tropical accessories ready for winter wear.
MILILANI, Hawaii, Sept. 29, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- In a fresh take on the tropical fashion trend that has taken women by storm, Maui by Design released a new line of Hawaiian wristlet bags today. The wristlets, named for the Kohala coast on the Big Island of Hawaii, are made from silk dyed to the company's specifications and finely embroidered with images that are beloved in the islands.

Contrary to the explosion of color that is typical for Hawaiian and tropical looks, Maui by Design offers more subtle tropical designs for fall/winter that can be paired tastefully with clothing typical for colder climates.
"Many women love the beauty, the flowers, the rich colors of Hawaii, and want to incorporate touches of that beauty into their daily life. Yet the colors that look so great in a tropical environment are just not appropriate for colder climates," says Andrea Butter, CEO of Maui by Design. "Our new Kohala wristlet bags offer a more subtle look that pairs well with fall and winter clothing on the mainland."
Maui by Design made the tropical look work by using elegant neutral colors for the silk body of each Kohala wristlet. Finely embroidered images add the tropical touch.
Maui by Design introduced six models in the Kohala wristlet line in a range of tropical imagery:
- Bird of Paradise flowers against a background of midnight blue silk
- Plumeria flowers embroidered in metallic gold and silver on a black silk wristlet
- A spray of violet orchids on a silk body dyed in an evening purple
- A dramatic red hibiscus outlined against a black background
- White and yellow plumeria flowers on ocean blue
- A beautiful turquoise wristlet embroidered with a white image of coral
Though Maui by Design is best known for its collectible Hawaiian Christmas ornaments, the company specializes in incorporating the art of the Hawaiian paradise into a range of everyday items, including women's accessories. Its fashion souvenir line of Paia and Hanalei cross body bags, named for the charming towns on the north shores of Maui and Kauai respectively, have been available in upscale boutiques and gift shops across Hawaii since January 2014.
"Our mission is to bring the joy and beauty of the islands into everyday life no matter where you live," says Butter. "With the new Kohala wristlet bags, we've taken yet another step towards that goal."
