SALT LAKE CITY, April 19, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Maverick Trading, a premier proprietary trading firm, and renowned publisher McGraw-Hill are pleased to announce the upcoming publication of Maverick Trading's closely guarded stock and options trading system.
The book, tentatively entitled The Maverick Portfolio, is co-authored by Robb Reinhold, Founder and Head Trader, Jon Frohlich, Head of Coaching, and Darren Fischer, Head of West Coast Operations. The book is designed to give retail investors and traders a step-by-step introduction to Maverick's highly profitable investment system.
"This book is the culmination of over 14 years of research and testing in the stock and options markets with real capital," said Reinhold. "On a daily basis, we see advertisements for so-called investment strategies that rely on mythical back-testing. At major institutions, the Chief Investment Officer would laugh a fund manager right out of the office if the manager came with only back-tested returns. Retail investors and traders should do the same thing. They deserve better and our book will show them how to demand better."
Frohlich said, "Maverick's book is best suited for retail investors and traders at all levels, with portfolios between $10,000 and $1 million, who want to generate excess returns regardless of market direction." When asked to elaborate on the target audience, Frohlich said, "Too many traders try to make money in the market with no plan and no support. They find it difficult to go it alone, sometimes underperforming the market or severely damaging their portfolios. The proprietary techniques we're letting people see are ideal for traders who want to enjoy some of the returns Maverick has enjoyed but maybe aren't ready to take the next step and trade side-by-side with us."
Fischer continued the thread, "After we looked at the sheer number of people who inquired about joining Maverick Trading, just in 2010, we recognized that there was a large population of traders who wanted to increase their returns without increasing their risk as well as an even larger population of investors who want to learn how to trade so that they aren't at the mercy of the market. It was entirely unnecessary for retail traders to sit through the 2008 financial crisis and watch their portfolios and retirement accounts lose half their value. They could either have been in cash or produced the kind of spectacular returns the firm did.
"When we committed to writing this book and giving something back by sharing some of our secrets with retail traders, we wanted to ensure that it would get the largest distribution possible and that it be published by a firm with an impeccable reputation. McGraw-Hill was our first and only choice because of their extensive experience with investment-related books. It's been a pleasure working with them to get our message out," said Fischer, when asked about the choice of publisher for Maverick's flagship book.
Mary Glenn, Associate Publisher, Business and Finance, at McGraw-Hill Professional, echoed Fischer's sentiment. "When Maverick contacted us about their idea for this book, we agreed that it was a story that needed to be told. We appreciated the breadth and depth of knowledge that Maverick was willing to share and felt the conversational style of the writing would appeal to a segment of readers that are often put off by the dry nature of many investment books. We're happy to be a part of this project alongside Maverick."
