Maxim Healthcare Services Chief Medical Officer Honored with University of South Carolina School of Medicine Award

COLUMBIA, Md., June 13, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The University of South Carolina School of Medicine has named Maxim Chief Medical Officer and Vice President John Langley M.D. the recipient of the 2016 William Weston Distinguished Service Award for Excellence in Pediatrics.

Established in 1980, the award recognizes pediatricians who have made extraordinary contributions to advance the field of pediatric medicine and champion clinical excellence. The award was presented Saturday, June 11 at the USC School of Medicine.

Dr. Langley brings more than 40 years of clinical experience to his role at Maxim Healthcare Services, Inc., a leading provider of home healthcare, medical staffing and population health and wellness services. He began his career on the faculty in the Department of Pediatrics at the Medical University of South Carolina before establishing a private pediatrics practice where he was a senior managing partner for more than 24 years. Prior to joining Maxim in 2009, he served as chief medical officer of East Cooper Regional Medical Center in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina.

An active member of the American Academy of Pediatrics for more than 32 years where he held a variety of board and committee positions, Dr. Langley earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Princeton University and a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Virginia. He completed a pediatric internship and residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and a fellowship in ambulatory pediatrics at the Medical University of South Carolina. Dr. Langley is board certified in pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics.
