MAY JUNG LAW FILES LAWSUIT ON BEHALF OF ELDERLY COUPLE ATTACKED OUTSIDE D.C. GIANT SUPERMARKET

WASHINGTON, Feb. 21, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- May Jung Law, a premier personal injury law firm in Washington, D.C., has filed a lawsuit on behalf of John Hopkins III, 81, and Claudia Hopkins, 82, who were brutally attacked outside a Giant Food supermarket at Cathedral Commons in Northwest D.C. The lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, seeks to hold Giant Food, LLC, Giant Landover Stores, INC.; Giant of DC, INC., Cathedral Commons Partners, Bozzuto Management Co., and their contracted security company accountable for their failure to provide adequate security, leading to catastrophic injuries for the victims.

On February 23, 2022, the Hopkins were violently assaulted as they exited the Giant Food supermarket. The attacker, who demanded money, viciously beat Mr. Hopkins with his own cane before turning to assault Mrs. Hopkins, striking her repeatedly with her own cane until she collapsed. Both victims were left seriously injured—Mr. Hopkins bloodied but conscious, and Mrs. Hopkins unconscious in a pool of her own blood.

Mr. Hopkins sustained a concussion, fractured facial bones, and a broken tooth, requiring hospitalization for nearly two weeks. Mrs. Hopkins suffered a traumatic brain injury and remains bedridden to this day, unable to care for herself. She has never recovered from the injuries and has remained in a medical or nursing facility for nearly three years.
