Mayim Bialik from 'Big Bang Theory' Joins Cruelty Free International to End Animal Cosmetics Testing in the U.S

Actress, Mayim Bialik, has teamed up with Cruelty Free International to campaign for a United States ban on animal tests for cosmetics. The images can be viewed here.

Mayim Bialik stated: 'It is very important to me to speak out on behalf of animals who cannot protest their suffering and ask the compassionate people of the United States to join me, and Cruelty Free International, to call on the U.S Government to end the outdated use of animals for cosmetics testing once and for all. It doesn't take a genius to know that using animals for these cruel and unnecessary tests is unjustifiable.'

The introduction of the Humane Cosmetics Act on 5^th March by U.S. Representative Jim Moran (D-VA), follows extensive campaigning in the US by Cruelty Free International and precedes a Congressional briefing 'Global regulations and advancements in alternatives to animal testing for cosmetics,'  hosted by Cruelty Free International in cooperation with Congressman Moran to be held on Tuesday, March 11, 2014.

To mark the one year anniversary of the historic European Union ban on animal tested cosmetics on March 11^th, Cruelty Free International is delivering a ground-breaking scientific report on the alternatives to animal tests to 100 Governments around the globe.

The report, 'Meeting the Global Challenge: A guide to assessing the safety of cosmetics without using animals' and roadmap is designed to help governments, politicians, regulators and cosmetics manufacturers across the world in switching to alternatives to replace animal testing. It describes the alternative approaches that are available to replace animals and shows how they are more reliable, faster and cheaper than the animal tests they replace.

This report builds on the progress already made by Cruelty Free International with animal testing bans for cosmetics purposes in other countries, including the EU and China's recent announcement on acceptance of non-animal testing from June 2014.
