The new reference designs can be adapted to any size base server, fully customized for each customer, and used to create powerhouse hardware solutions for applications ranging from post-production processing to video content creation and content delivery networks (CDNs).
The new designs combine the latest NVMe (Non-Volatile Memory Express) SSDs with and without 3D NAND flash, helium drives, Intel Xeon v4 Broadwell-Ep processors and other technologies to support today's increasingly demanding video workloads, while also providing ample expansion space and a price/performance ratio that fits the budgets of ISVs and service providers.
Components include Seagate Nytro XF1440/ XM1440, Intel DC P3500/P3600/P3700 or Samsung 850/863/950/951 NVMe drives featuring ultra-fast read speeds up to 2500 MzHzHHB/s per drive; Intel Xeon E5-2600 v4 processors boasting 2400 MHz frequencies, Intel Turbo Boost Technology, and up to 22 cores and 44 threads per socket enabling 8% faster memory performance and a 24% improvement in other operations over predecessor solutions; Intel Visual Compute Accelerators for lightning-fast video encoding and 4K video handling; and more.
Proof of Concept
MBX has already utilized these technologies to engineer a custom video server system for a leading content provider with exceptionally complex hardware needs. No other appliance builder was able to develop a working configuration that fulfilled the customer's requirements.
