BIRMINGHAM, Ala., Aug. 23, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- McGlinchey Stafford PLLC is pleased to announce Christopher P. (Chris) Couch has joined the firm's Birmingham office as Of Counsel. He will practice within the firm's Corporate and Banking practice groups.
"We are very excited to welcome Chris to McGlinchey Stafford. His transactional and regulatory experience adds depth to our growing Birmingham office so we can better serve the firm's key clients in Alabama and throughout the Southeast. Chris is a highly respected attorney, and he shares our commitment to providing exceptional counsel," said Chris Bottcher, the head of McGlinchey Stafford's Birmingham office.
Couch's practice includes advising clients on all aspects of entity formation, securities, finance and corporate governance, and transactional matters. Couch also advises banks and other financial institutions on regulatory and operational matters; civil and regulatory actions involving commercial and consumer claims; and compliance with banking and lending laws, rules, and regulations. His broad client base includes startups, privately held companies, manufacturers, institutional investors, consumer products companies, and regional and community banks. He is licensed to practice in both Alabama and Florida.
Rudy Aguilar, Managing Member and head of McGlinchey Stafford's national Corporate Law practice, commented, "Chris is an excellent addition to our Corporate Law practice and firm, and brings a great deal of experience representing clients in mergers and acquisitions, entity formation, and securities matters. He will serve as an outstanding resource for our clients across the region, whether they're seeking venture capital, issuing stock, or exploring a deal to grow their business."
Couch's experience as in-house counsel includes having previously served as General Counsel of an alternative energy company that developed private equity-backed industrial projects. In this role, Couch represented the company in obtaining private equity commitments in excess of $250 million, and also directed the company's legal matters and strategy relating to facility development, financing, and construction; product commercialization; and corporate and commercial transactions. Prior to attending law school, he worked within a Birmingham-based bank that later merged to become one of the largest regional banks in the Southeast United States.
"Chris will be a great addition to our banking practice. He understands the regulatory, compliance, and operational challenges these clients face in their everyday operations, and knows how to help them move their businesses forward as they continue to see more oversight and proposed rules and regulations," said Mark Edelman, who co-chairs the firm's national Banking practice group.
A 2002 graduate of the University of Alabama School of Law, Couch served as the Alabama Editor of the Alabama Law Review during law school. He earned his M.B.A. from the Vanderbilt University Owen Graduate School of Management in 2015, and also studied Private Capital Markets at Pepperdine University's Graziadio School of Business Management. Couch received his B.A. in English from Birmingham-Southern College in 1995.
