McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP Appointed as Consultant for Bermuda's Municipalities Reform

WASHINGTON, Jan. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP (MLA) announced today that it has been selected to advise the Government of Bermuda on its proposed reform of the Corporation of Hamilton and the Corporation of St. George's (the Municipalities).  MLA has partnered with the Bermuda-based law firm Attride-Stirling & Wolonecki Barristers & Attorneys (AS&W).  The firms will lead a thorough examination of Bermuda's Municipalities Act of 1923 which will guide a complete audit of the operations of the Municipalities.

The Hon. Walter Roban, J.P., M.P., Minister of Health of Bermuda today stated, "I am happy to announce the appointment of AS&W and MLA to move this initiative forward. They bring a great deal of experience in reform efforts both in the private and public sector, which we think will be of value in this project.  The consultants have been given specific objectives and timelines so that we can move forward with reform later in 2010."

MLA's advisory team will be lead by Stephen Goldsmith, former Mayor of Indianapolis and MLA Senior Strategic Advisor, and Hakim Hilliard, a partner in MLA's Local Government practice.
