McMurdo Group to Host Inaugural H.E.R.O Awards 2016 at Lanham, Maryland Experience Center

LANHAM, Md., Nov. 2, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- McMurdo, Inc., the most trusted name in emergency readiness and response and part of Orolia Group, will host the inaugural Honouring Excellence in Rescue Operations (H.E.R.O) Awards ceremony at its Lanham, Maryland headquarters Nov. 15, 2016. Award recipients will be recognized in McMurdo's state-of-the-art Experience Center, which showcases the latest search and rescue (SAR) technology developments and real-time demonstrations of the SAR process.

Co-founded by the International Maritime Rescue Federation (IMRF) and McMurdo, the H.E.R.O Awards honor individuals and teams for their courageous SAR life-saving and recovery missions, as well as innovative technologies to support future missions. The 2016 awards will recognize actions that took place from July 1, 2015, to June 30, 2016.

The ceremony will be simulcast with the IMRF Regional Meeting in Lisbon, Portugal.

In addition to local award recipients in both locations, four major awards will be presented:

• Search and Rescue Innovation and Technology Excellence
• Search and Rescue Individual Excellence
• Search and Rescue Team Excellence (Sponsored by McMurdo)
• The Vladimir Maksimov Outstanding SAR Service Award (Sponsored by Inmarsat)
