Measles and Measles Vaccine Discussions up 500% in Recent Weeks

The recent resurgence of measles in the US has ignited the discussion between pro- and anti-vaxxers - those who support or oppose the practice of vaccinating.  According to Treato™, the leading source of "patient voice" insights from across the social web, their analysis of over 120 thousand posts related to measles and vaccines in patient and caregiver social media conversations, reveals the following insights:

• Of online discussions surrounding measles vaccines, 75% support vaccines, while 25% take an anti-vaxxer position.  
• New York, Texas and California are most vocal on the subject
• Activity overall is up 500%

Further insights from social media reveal that autism continues to be the topic most frequently mentioned.  And, within autism discussions, the measles vaccine is mentioned almost 25% more than any other children's vaccine.  Clearly, health consumer debate over the benefits and risks of vaccines continues to rage.

Stepping aside from the prevention discussion, Vitamin A is the most talked about treatment for measles, as no prescription drugs exist to treat the disease.
