Medal of Honor Recipient Florent Groberg Brings War on Terror Perspective to Board

ARLINGTON, Va., July 7, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Medal of Honor Recipient Florent Groberg has become the first Recipient from the War on Terror to be appointed to the Board of Directors of the Congressional Medal of Honor Foundation, (www.themedalofhonor.com).

The Congressional Medal of Honor Society, consisting of the 71 living Recipients of the Medal of Honor, appointed Groberg to the Foundation Board to fill a vacancy created by the passing of Medal of Honor Recipient Leo Thorsness on May 2. Groberg earned the Medal of Honor as a captain in the U.S. Army while leading a personal security mission in the Kunar Province of Afghanistan on Aug. 8, 2012. He saved numerous lives during that mission, placing himself between the formation of military leaders his team was protecting and a suicide bomber.

Groberg, who retired from the Army in 2015, now serves as the director of Veterans Outreach for The Boeing Company. Groberg also serves on the Board of Directors for Warriors Ethos and is a spokesman on behalf of members of the military and veterans transitioning to the civilian workforce and for those suffering from post-traumatic stress.
