Experts in sport integrity to discuss path forward in light of recent scandals affecting the global sports community
WASHINGTON, June 18, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The International Centre for Sport Security (ICSS) will convene leaders in sports integrity at a press briefing and conference call on financial integrity and transparency in sport on Wednesday, June 24 at 12:00pm Eastern Time. The timely discussion comes in the wake of recent headlines concerning FIFA and as the international sports community grapples with scandals involving issues such as tax evasion, money laundering and financial misconduct.
At the event, ICSS will discuss an ongoing project to strengthen financial integrity and transparency in sport. The research initiative is exploring current threats facing global sport stakeholders and developing much-needed solutions in areas such as:
- Bidding processes for sports events and media rights
- Money laundering, tax evasion and other financial malpractice in sport
- Third party ownership of players' economic rights
- Players' transfers, agent's activities and financial transactions
- Offshore investment funds
- Club ownership and governance structures
