WHAT: Press briefing prior to the 2011 edition of Illinois Gun Owners' Lobby Day (IGOLD).
WHEN: Thursday, 10 March 2011, 9:30 a.m.
WHERE: Blue Room, Illinois Capitol Building, Springfield, Illinois
WHO: Richard Pearson, Executive Director, Illinois State Rifle Association; State Senator Kirk Dillard (R-Hinsdale); State Representative Brandon Phelps (D-Harrisburg).
Senator Dillard, Representative Phelps, and Mr. Pearson will be delivering short statements on the significance of the IGOLD event and pending legislation related to concealed carry and protecting the privacy of holders of Firearm Owner Identification Cards. After delivering their opening remarks, each will be available to field questions from the media.
This press conference will serve as the kickoff for the 2011 IGOLD event. At 11:00 a.m., the attendees of the event will gather in the Prairie Capitol Convention Center for legislative briefings and instructions on lobbying members of the General Assembly. Organizers anticipate upwards of 5,000 attendees.
At 1:00 p.m., the attendees will depart the convention center and march to the Lincoln Steps of the Capitol for a rally in support of Concealed Carry legislation and legislation designed to protect the privacy of law-abiding firearm owners.
At the conclusion of the rally, attendees will enter the Capitol to attend House and Senate committee hearings and pay office calls on their Senators and Representatives to express their dissatisfaction with the state of affairs of firearm rights here in Illinois.
The day concludes with a 6:00 p.m. reception at the Statehouse Inn.
