Media Advisory/Interview & Photo Opportunity - Canada Company to award scholarships to 11 children of Canadian Forces personnel who perished in the line of duty
TORONTO, Aug. 12, 2013 /CNW/ - Eleven children of Canadian military personnel who perished while serving their country will receive post-secondary education scholarships from Canada Company at the sixth annual awards ceremony to be held on Friday, August 16, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Toronto-Dominion Centre, Plaza Courtyard.
Lieutenant-General Marquis Hainse, the Commander of the Canadian Army, and Vice-Admiral Mark Norman will be in attendance. Recipients Sheralynn Kennedy, Lynn Squires and mother of recipients Belinda Naismith will speak at the ceremony.
Created in 2006, Canada Company brings business leaders together from across Canada to support Canadian soldiers and their families. The Canada Company Scholarship Fund was created in 2007 to supplement benefits available to children who have had a parent perish while on duty. Awarded annually, the scholarships provide $4,000 per year for up to four years to children who qualify. These scholarships help to offset tuition fees and other living expenses required to complete a post-secondary education.
