MEDIA ALERT: Voting Begins in Questia's Most Valuable Professor Competition

STAMFORD, Conn., April 23, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Voting for Questia's first ever Most Valuable Professor Competition opened today (Monday, April 23rd), allowing college students to recognize the professors who have had the biggest impact on their education. In addition to receiving the MVP title for Most Valuable Professor, Questia (www.questia.com), the premier online library and research tool for students, will create three $2,500 scholarships in the winning professor's name. The reigning MVP will also become part of the integral team that selects the scholarship recipients. Scholarship criteria will be determined at a later date with input from the MVP.

Throughout the nomination process, we surveyed nearly 1,000 students and instructors on everything from study and research habits to relationship building with faculty. When students were asked who they turn to first for trustworthy academic advice, more than half said it was a professor. When asked who their college mentor is, the majority also said it was a professor. It appears that professors are a go-to source for more than just homework questions—they are advisors, mentors and MVPs!
