SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 8, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- San Francisco based media agency Mediasmith announced today that Thierry Cornet and Kate Burkart are joining the company as Associate Media Director and Business Development Manager, respectively.
Thierry Cornet brings experience in a variety of verticals, including B2B, consumer electronics, after-market automotive, retail and eTail to the Associate Media Director position. His pedigree includes work at PHD/OMD, Universal McCann and Goodby Silverstein & Partners, and he is a Mediasmith incumbent, having worked as a planner here from 2005-2007. His portfolio includes Microsoft, eBay, Autodesk, K&N and Safeway, which will serve him well on the NetApp and National Geographic Channel accounts.
Cornet is credited with spearheading the first ever paid Twitter integrated advertising program as well as driving publisher adoption of the VAST protocol. Both of these accomplishments exceeded client expectation, and in the case of VAST, directly contributed to incremental annual client revenues, in an area outside his day-to-day responsibility.
His passion is to seek out "the golden hour " within his client's marketing initiatives, where he focuses on finding perfect intersection between the customer, creative, media and client objectives. John Cate, Mediasmith COO comments, "We're excited to have someone of Thierry's considerable expertise and vision join our team. Thierry is a true architect of media, and has already begun to make a strong impression amongst our clients."
Kate Burkart has a 10 year track record of developing new business for several agencies, including Alcone Marketing and Just Media Inc. Burkart has a background in media, having worked at Harcomm Associates as a Media Director after serving as Media Buyer at Hill Holiday on the Massachusetts State Lottery, Ford Motor Company and Gillette accounts. Mediasmith looks forward to leveraging her expertise for opening doors and building strong client relationships.
"This will be a big growth year for us, as we open our office in New York and expand in San Francisco, and Kate is a key component of that. She has a unique mix of media planning experience with established success in business development that is a perfect fit for us," said Mediasmith CEO and Founder David L. Smith.
