Jim Spanfeller is the President and Chief Executive Officer of The Spanfeller Group. Previously Spanfeller was the President and CEO of Forbes.com and also was a member of Office of the Chairman, along with Steve Forbes and Timothy Forbes. He is currently Treasurer of the Online Publisher's Association (OPA) and is a Chairman Emeritus of the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB). He also sits on the boards of Freedom Communications, Inc., Ziff Davis Enterprise Group, Modern Luxury Inc., We Are Family Foundation and the ABM (American Business Media Association) among other advisory board positions.
David Carlick, a long time advisor to Mediasmith management, returns to the board after a hiatus. He was a founding member of the Mediasmith Board of Directors. Carlick is an independent director at a number of companies including TouchTunes, Grocery Shopping Network, and ReachLocal. He is a venture partner at leading venture capital firm Rho Ventures. Carlick founded Carlick Advertising & Database Marketing in 1979 and grew the agency to one of the largest independent agencies serving the technology companies of Silicon Valley. The agency became Poppe Tyson in 1993, where as Executive Vice President Carlick Co-Founded DoubleClick. He was also Managing Director at VantagePoint Venture Capital from January 1998 through December 2008.
Preston Bealle has a long relationship with the Mediasmith founders. His background includes over 15 years of experience in large ad agencies in New York and San Francisco, including JWT/NY, Dancer Fitzgerald Sample, and Saatchi/NY. After a time away from the agency business, Bealle returned as the first Director of Online Advertising at Poppe Tyson/NY and was the point person organizing the merger with Modem Media to create the largest online agency at the time. He was the CEO of Jumbo.com, started site Homeworkcentral.com, was the founder and CEO of Babygear.com and was the CEO of Gorp.com. Bealle also served on the board of the Rhythm and Blues Foundation.
