Meijer Announces Opening Date for Indianapolis-Area Supercenters

May 2 is first day of business for new stores in McCordsville and Franklin

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., March 24, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Meijer is confirming May 2 as the opening date for two new supercenters in McCordsville and Franklin, Ind., Regional Vice President Maureen Mitchell announced.

Mitchell said company leadership and local dignitaries will dedicate the store's first day of business with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The Indianapolis-area supercenters are two of seven new stores Meijer is opening in Indiana, Michigan and Wisconsin this year.

"Indianapolis is very important for us, and our new stores reinforce our commitment to serving the needs of families with an incredible combination of service, selection and quality at low prices," Mitchell said. "We look forward to opening day with our new neighbors in McCordsville, Franklin and their surrounding communities."

Meijer has invested heavily in Indianapolis in recent years. Of the 15 Meijer stores in Indianapolis and its suburbs, most are either new or have been remodeled within the last few years, including a project at the Meijer Supercenter on East 96^th Street in Indianapolis, which will be completed by the end of this summer. Store enhancements for Meijer remodels have included improved store layouts, expanded grocery and health and beauty sections, as well as lighting, heating, refrigeration and parking lot improvements.

While weekly Meijer sales at the two new supercenters begin when doors open at 7 a.m. on May 2, the stores will also feature special promotions and events to commemorate official grand opening celebrations, beginning May 4. The Meijer gas station for each store will officially open April 6.

There are still team member openings for the McCordsville and Franklin stores. The hourly positions will be part- and full-time across a wide array of skill sets, but ideal candidates will possess a desire to develop as part of the Meijer team and provide exceptional customer service.
