Meijer Extends Summer Fuel Savings Program through Holiday Season

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., Oct. 4, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Meijer is pleased to announce that its summertime fuel savings program will continue through the holiday, providing Meijer credit card customers with a 10 cent per gallon discount on fuel during the busy travel season.

The Grand Rapids, Mich.-based retailer's discount program is available at all 180 Meijer gas stations and will run through Jan. 5.

"Meijer is always looking for ways to save our customers money, especially during the holiday season," said Brian Horsford, director of gas stations. "Gasoline prices have a major impact on family budgets, so we are pleased to extend this savings opportunity to all Meijer credit card holders in time for their busy holiday travels."

Year round, Meijer credit card holders receive a 5 cent savings per gallon of gas purchased at Meijer gas stations.

The Meijer fuel savings program is very popular with customers because it allows them to save at the pump without any required purchase inside the store. When customers use their Meijer credit card, issued by GE Capital Retail Bank, to purchase gas at Meijer stations, the pump will recognize the use of the card and customers will see the 10 cents per gallon reduction on the pump readout. No coupons are needed and there's no need to make a purchase inside the store to receive the discount.

The offer is valid at all Meijer gas stations and no minimum fuel purchase is required. Meijer currently carries three standard grades of gasoline, as well as diesel, kerosene and E-85 at most locations throughout its five-state region.

Customers who don't already have a Meijer credit card can apply at any Meijer store, online at www.Meijer.com/creditcard or by texting "apply" to 28729 with their smartphone. By opening up a Meijer credit account, customers will also save 10 percent off their first purchase on merchandise in the main retail store and will receive monthly specials. Meijer Platinum MasterCard holders can earn even more with 20 percent off grocery, health and beauty care rewards and coupons after earning 2000 rewards points. One point is given for every $1 spent inside Meijer and everywhere MasterCard is accepted.
