Memory-Making Season Contest Open Until Oct. 31; Athletes Can Win $1,000 For Entry On Most Unforgettable Season
CHICAGO, Sept. 15, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Back to school means the opening of school and recreation sports seasons. It's an exciting time for parents, coaches and athletes of all ages.
Through its "Recognition is Rewarding" campaign, the association is encouraging young people to get out and play this fall, to participate in sports they love, or learn a new one. To inspire young athletes, the Awards and Personalization Association is holding its #memorymakingseason contest that enables participants to share photos and videos of their favorite memory-making season, often one where the athlete developed new skills, built self-esteem, gained new friendships, and garnered positive health and wellness outcomes.
From now until October 31, athletes, parents, youth sports fans, coaches and others are encouraged to enter, by either submitting a photo or video of the coach or athlete describing their favorite memory from a season and how it impacted their life. Submissions should include award presentations, end of the season recognition ceremonies or team parties with their trophy or other award and should highlight how the season impacted them, how they were recognized by the team or as an individual and what it meant to the entrant.
Entries must be no more than 250 words or 2 minutes in length and can be submitted at www.facebook.com/recognitionisrewarding.
The National Football League recognizes those values and has been working hard to build participation in youth sports and physical activities through many channels, including its new Play Football campaign. Roman Oben, the NFL's Senior Director for Youth and High School Development: "The NFL loves this time of year, when players get back onto fields around the nation. But it's about more than competition and winning - participation in youth sports leads to better health over the course of a lifetime. From Pop Warner to the NFL, football brings communities together!"
Greg Della Badia, Past President of the Awards and Personalization Association, noted: "Our members enjoy their summers but they really love back-to-school and the return of fall sports. It's a busy time of course – but they also get to work with sports leagues and teams around the country to give kids those memory-making moments. That's why we're happy to sponsor a Facebook contest for the best picture or video capturing a Memory-Making Season. Our members know that the awards they make play a part in creating those memories and giving kids positive feedback long after the season ends."
The top five submissions will be recognized with an award and $250, and the grand prize winning individual will receive $1,000 and contribution to a local sports organization of a custom awards program for their team.
