"This year's URBANATHLON® promises to be bigger than ever with events in three of the largest cities in the country," said Ronan Gardiner, Publisher of Men's Health. "This year we also invited the public to design a completely new obstacle for our first-ever Design an Obstacle competition, and we're thrilled to feature the winning design, Traffic Jam, on all three courses and in an upcoming issue of Men's Health."
Highlights of this year's rigorous and demanding courses include: Stair climbs in Soldier Field (Chicago), Citi Field and Arthur Ashe Stadium (New York), AT&T Park (San Francisco), tire stutter-stepping, climbing over marine hurdles, over-under traffic barricade obstacles, traversing monkey bars, taxi cab hurdles, and scaling a bus before heading to the 8-foot wall at the finish lines.
The Chicago race will begin at 7:15am CST, Saturday, October 13 at Soldier Field. The New York race will begin at 7:50am EST, Saturday, October 27 at Citi Field. The San Francisco race will begin at 7:50am PST, Sunday, November 18 at Fisherman's Wharf.
Post-race, the excitement will continue at the Men's Health URBANATHLON® Festival with DJs, food, drink, and tons of sponsor-provided samples to demo and take home. The festival is free and open to the public.
The Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF) will be the beneficiary of the race for the seventh year in a row. Participants can sign up for the Men's Health Mission to raise funds for CAF online at the URBANATHLON® website.
