Mercedes-Benz and Lowe's Coming to Fairfield, California

FAIRFIELD, Calif., Nov. 15, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- While many California cities are still facing sluggish growth, the San Francisco Bay Area city of Fairfield, California is experiencing an increase in construction and economic development activity.

Automotive group, Price-Simms, began construction in early October on a new 40,000-square foot Mercedes Benz dealership at Fairfield's 31-acre auto mall. The dealership, which will have excellent freeway visibility from Interstate 80, will seek Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification. Green elements planned for the building include solar panels, energy-efficient lighting, and low water use. The location of the dealership allows it to serve several counties including Solano, Contra Costa, Napa, Sonoma, and Yolo. Construction is expected to be completed in August 2011. The general contractor, J.R. Roberts Deacon of Citrus Heights, California, has an extensive portfolio of auto dealership construction projects.

The Ford dealership, which opened in October at the auto mall, is also owned by Price-Simms. The dealership includes a service center with repair and maintenance and adds 100 jobs.

Construction is expected to start spring 2011 on a new 139,000-square foot Lowe's in Fairfield. Escrow closed in October on the 11.04 acres at North Texas Street and Manuel Campos Parkway. In addition, a new 200,000-square foot Walmart Supercenter opened at the corner of North Texas Street and Atlantic Avenue. Walmart hosted its grand opening November 3, 2010.

In other business news, Frank-Lin Distiller Products Ltd., has completed construction on a $34 million, 288,000-square foot building on 15 acres in the Tolenas Industrial Park. Financing for the project included $1.4 million in Recovery Zone Facility Bonds. The California Enterprise Development Authority (CEDA) applied on behalf of Frank-Lin for an additional $20 million, which was awarded to the business from the California Debt Limit Allocation Committee (CDLAC). Frank-Lin Distillers is a family and employee-owned bottling company that produces and distributes more than 2,000 distilled spirit, wine, and beer products. It moved to Fairfield from San Jose, California where it had been located since 1966. The facility will open for production in January 2011.
