HAMDEN, Conn., Dec. 10, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The partnership of Connecticut Orthopaedic Specialists, PC (Connecticut Orthopaedic) and The Orthopaedic Group (TOG) has changed the orthopaedic care landscape in Connecticut. This merger is the third for Connecticut Orthopaedic in 2014 and will increase orthopaedic patient access to specialists and urgent care. TOG brings eight orthopaedic specialists and four offices into the merged practice group.
"What we have done here is develop a unique model for the delivery of orthopaedic care in this region," stated Glenn Elia, CEO of Connecticut Orthopaedic. "With more than forty musculoskeletal specialists, seventeen neighborhood locations and multiple walk-in care centers, we can deliver a higher level of patient care and convenience than ever before."
Dr. Richard A. Bernstein, Dr. John F. Irving, and Dr. Alan M. Reznik founded TOG in 1998. They will be opening a new flagship office at 9 Washington Avenue in Hamden in December which will be complemented by existing satellite offices in Branford, North Haven, and Milford. Their patients will now be able to utilize Connecticut Orthopaedic's two MRI units as well as state-of-the-art surgical facilities located in Branford.
The merged practices will also implement a new electronic medical records system that includes a tablet-based onboarding tool that allows patients to conveniently check-in at their appointment and provides them with additional care resources during the visit.
"We timed this merger to optimize the benefits to our patients," said Dr. Reznik. "Together, we are able to increase the care options and convenience as well as implement new services, technology, and locations. There is nothing more important to us than caring for our patients and our work together really improves the orthopaedic care delivery system in this area. We provide the best in current care while offering the best of invention and innovations in orthopaedic surgery. There is nothing else like it in the state."
