SINGAPORE, Oct. 16, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Meritus Hotels & Resorts, lauded Singapore's most popular heritage brand, marked a grand slam win in the following categories at the recently concluded 2012 World Luxury Hotel Awards (WLHA):

The annual red carpet Gala event was held on 13 October 2012 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Recognised as amongst the world's most prestigious and exclusive awards for the hospitality industry, the World Luxury Hotel Awards is a global organisation that provides recognition to luxury hotels for their world class facilities and service excellence provided to guests. The organisation aims to encourage and raise service standards within the luxury hotel industry.
The criteria to be successfully nominated and included in the official World Luxury Hotel Awards voting process is overall service excellence. The award judging process is not dependent on a board of directors, but by the industry itself through public voting by tour operators, travel consultants, industry experts and guests that have experienced these hotels.
From amongst over 1500 nominations received this year, the event saw hotels and resorts from 61 countries awarded in 29 categories. Winners are recognised on a country, continent, and global basis; and properties receiving the most votes are conferred the global awards being the overall luxury winner of a specific category.
