Mersen Launches New Global Surge Protection Organization & North American Surge Protection Product Line
New Surge-Trap® Series based on patented thermal protection technology
NEWBURYPORT, Mass., March 21, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Global Electrical Power and Advanced Materials leader Mersen today launched the Surge-Trap® product line for North America, marking another key milestone for its recently formed global surge protection organization. The new organization is part of the strategy to expand the presence of Mersen's electrical segment in the overvoltage protection market. Until now, Mersen was primarily a component supplier supplying Mersen's innovative TPMOV® (Thermally Protected Metal Oxide Varistor) technology, delivering the best available, highly reliable performance in the industry.
Mersen's first new product launch in North America is the Surge-Trap NEMA Type 1 surge protective device series. The new Surge-Trap line includes six surge protection products designed and manufactured by Mersen with the latest materials, layouts and components, including the industry leading TPMOV Technology. All are NEMA devices for ANSI/UL 1449 Type 1 and 2 applications, indoor and outdoor use, and provide UL96A lightning protection plus a variety of other features and benefits to meet clients' needs. To aid partners offering Mersen products, the company designed an intuitive cataloging system and partner portal that makes it easy to compare features and quickly find the right product for customers.
