Initial pilot study reveals measurable gains in cognitive performance within MeSpace
DALLAS, Oct. 15, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- MeSpace, a Hollman Inc. company that designs and manufactures adaptive workstations to help unlock productivity and potential, today announced it has selected Neurable Inc., a neurotechnology company pioneering wearable brain-computer interface (BCI) technology, as its official research partner. MeSpace and Neurable have completed an initial cognitive research study directly comparing traditional open offices with MeSpace workstations to measure how real-time brain activity is influenced by workspace design.
"This is the first time we're seeing hard neuroscience confirm what professionals have long known: our environment matters," said Travis Hollman, Founder and CEO of MeSpace. "We didn't just ask how people feel in our workstations, we measured how their brains actually function. The results reinforce our mission to create inclusive, adaptable workspaces that help people do their best work. With companies rethinking office environments, this research provides timely evidence that workspace design is not just an aesthetic choice, it's a productivity driver."
Initial Research Results
Over a two-week period, 25 office workers participated in a side-by-side comparison of a traditional open office versus MeSpace's sensory-optimized environments to directly compare how each workspace affected performance in real time. Participants wore Neurable's EEG headsets to track real-time brainwave data during the workday. The study included both neurotypical and neurodivergent individuals from different professional backgrounds, offering a broad perspective on workplace impact.
Findings show that MeSpace workstations significantly improve cognitive performance:
- Attention increased by 31%
- Calmness rose by 12%
- Thinking speed jumped by 30%
- Overall Cognitive Performance Index (CPI) improved by 26%
"We're thrilled to support MeSpace in bringing this research to life," said Ramses Alcaide, CEO and Co-Founder of Neurable. "This collaboration shows how BCI can move beyond the lab and drive real-world innovation. By grounding design decisions in measurable brain data, we are helping shape work environments that truly enhance focus, calm, and performance."
Next Phase of Research with Leading Academic Institutions
Building on the pilot results, MeSpace is partnering with leading universities to launch a formal, multi-phase study on how workspace design influences productivity and performance. Using Neurable's EEG technology, this next phase will capture real-time brainwave data across diverse participants. The study is scheduled to begin later this year and is expected to conclude by the end of 2025.
MeSpace Workstations
MeSpace workstations are intentionally designed to go beyond the limitations of standard office pods. They give users control over lighting, airflow, visual and acoustic privacy, and other sensory elements, creating a personalized environment that helps reduce mental fatigue, improve focus, and support emotional regulation. As companies rethink their return-to-office strategies, this early research highlights MeSpace as a data-informed, human-centered solution designed to support how people work best.
Hollman added: "MeSpace began with a mission to create environments where neurodiverse minds could truly thrive. This research has helped us understand that when you design for the edges, you create better spaces for everyone."
