MESSRING Sells Four Sled Systems for Testing Child Seats

Only about six months after launching its own mounting system for testing child seats with its CIS (Compact Impact Simulator) sled system, MESSRING is pleased to announce that it has received new orders. According to the world's leading manufacturer of crash test facilities and their components, four CIS sled systems were sold with the new child seat testing system within only a few months.

For example, the Chinese manufacturer Goodbaby International Holdings Limited, which has made a name for itself worldwide with child seats and baby carriers, has ordered a CIS system with the new child seat mount from MESSRING. Its German subsidiary Cybex, which has won several child seat tests conducted by the consumer organization Stiftung Warentest, also purchased a new sled system. Another order was received from Taiwanese child seat manufacturer Union Sports Co, Ltd., which is currently setting up a test laboratory in China. The fourth order came from the public testing authority CAERI (China Automotive Engineering Research Institute Co LTD). MESSRING already designed a crash test facility for the Chinese government agency responsible for testing and developing new regulations in 2014, which set new standards worldwide. With the CIS, including the new mounting system for testing child seats, CAERI has added another component to its crash-test facility.
MESSRING will supply the new mount as a ready-to-use system that allows car seat manufacturers to carry out all tests pursuant to the new UN ECE R129 regulation. In addition to front and rear-impact testing, the amended regulation governing the approval of child car seats now also requires side-impact testing for the first time. There is currently no other system on the market that allows all these test scenarios to be replicated in a simple and reproducible manner. "We want the CIS to be as flexible and variable as possible. This also includes adapting the system to new regulations and new testing scenarios, such as the UN ECE R129," says Dierk Arp, CEO of MESSRING.
To achieve this, MESSRING developed a completely new design for the sled system, including damper system, door element, and seat bench. This allows all of the sequences and crash phases defined by lawmakers to be reproduced and, for the first time, now front, rear, and side impact tests for child seats can be integrated into sled tests. Although the mounting system was specifically designed for the CIS, it can be adapted for use with other sled systems.
The company shipped its first orders for the new system to Spain and China back in 2017. The new orders from Goodbaby, Cybex, Union Sports, and CAERI are scheduled to be installed this summer and fall.
