Metagenics Awarded USP GMP Audit Certificate

ALISO VIEJO, Calif., July 24, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Metagenics, Inc., a health sciences company, announced today that it was awarded the USP Quality Systems GMP Audited Certificate by USP for its Gig Harbor, Washington, manufacturing facilities. USP is a scientific, nonprofit, standards-setting organization that advances global health through public standards and related programs that help ensure the quality, safety, and benefit of medicines and foods. USP's standards are used and relied upon in more than 140 countries.

Through the USP GMP Audit Program, Metagenics passed a Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) audit of its facility and quality systems, including quality management, facilities and equipment, materials controls, production, packaging and labeling, and laboratory controls. Metagenics' facilities and quality systems and processes were reviewed and verified as implementing FDA 21 CFR Part 111 GMPs and USP general chapter <2750> GMPs for dietary supplements.

USP's GMP Audit Program was created in response to demand from dietary supplement manufacturers. The program provides assurance that manufacturers implement and go beyond FDA GMPs in their quality practices. USP is an authoritative source of GMP audits of dietary supplements manufacturers, not only because the United States Pharmacopeia-National Formulary (USP-NF) is recognized as an official compendium of scientific quality standards for dietary supplements and ingredients, but also because of USP's leadership specifically in the area of dietary supplement GMPs.
