The most common metal-organic frameworks comprise aluminum, copper, zinc and zirconium nodes, in addition to organic ligands, such as 1,4-benzenedicarboxilic acid (H2BDC) and 1,3,5- benzenetricarboxylic acid (BTC). Some of these materials have surface area as high as 10,000 m2/g.
