MCKINNEY, Texas, May 30, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Methodist McKinney Hospital (MMH) is proud to receive the Texas Hospital Quality Improvement Silver Award from TMF® Health Quality Institute, the Medicare Quality Improvement Organization for Texas. The Texas Hospital Quality Improvement Award program, sponsored by TMF, Texas Hospital Association and Texas Organization of Rural and Community Hospitals recognizes Texas hospitals that have undertaken quality initiatives to improve outcomes in patient care and improve their performance on specific national quality measures.

To earn the Silver Award, MMH had to satisfy several stringent quality measures in areas that included Outpatient Quality Reporting and overall reduction of readmissions; only 45 hospitals in the state achieved the same recognition. The 2014 Texas Hospital Quality Improvement Awards, which are based on 2012 and 2013 achievements, evaluate hospital performance according to specific national quality measures and honor those Texas facilities that are performing quality initiatives aimed at improving outcomes in patient care.

The Quality Improvement Awards program was established in 2004 as a non-competitive recognition program designed to recognize exemplary outcomes achieved by hospitals statewide.
