Metriport takes the next step toward direct participation in the national TEFCA framework.
SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 17, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Metriport today announced it has been accepted as a Candidate Qualified Health Information Network® (QHIN™) by The Sequoia Project as the Recognized Coordinating Entity® (RCE®) for the Trusted Exchange Framework and Common Agreement™ (TEFCA®). Candidate QHIN status is granted to organizations that have submitted the QHIN application and been accepted into the RCE's project planning and testing phase of the onboarding process.
The move into technical onboarding builds on Metriport's commitment to operating at the foundational layer of healthcare data exchange. Metriport is a Carequality Implementer, CommonWell Service Adopter, and eHealth Exchange Participant, enabling its healthcare organization customers to access data across major national exchange networks.
"Real interoperability in healthcare means better information for providers, which translates to better care for patients. That's the standard we hold ourselves to as we grow," said Colin Elsinga, COO and co-founder of Metriport.
Now that Metriport has reached candidate status, the next phase includes pre-production testing and completion of the required project plan. If designated as a QHIN, Metriport would participate directly in TEFCA's nationwide framework, giving customers more direct access to national exchange while giving Metriport a voice in how the framework evolves within the governing bodies.
"We see amazing scientific breakthroughs in medicine all the time, but the data layer hasn't kept up. Closing that gap is the reason Metriport exists," said Dima Goncharov, CEO and co-founder of Metriport. "That work just took a real step forward, with Metriport accepted as a Candidate QHIN. It's an important milestone in our work to give providers the infrastructure they need to deliver the next generation of care."
Metriport brings together patient records from across the healthcare ecosystem, then standardizes, deduplicates, and enriches them for clinicians at the point of care. The platform is used by organizations ranging from large-scale providers like Amazon One Medical and Color Health to EHR platforms, value-based care organizations, specialty clinics, and independent practices.
