Mexico to Bring Together 110 Brazilian and Mexican CEO's at the 17th INTERNATIONAL MEETING of LIDE
Group of businessmen to discuss challenges of the Latin American economy at Punta Mita
SAO PAULO, Oct. 3, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The 17th INTERNATIONAL MEETING, organized by LIDE – Grupo de Lideres Empresariais [Group of Business Leaders], will bring together 110 Brazilian and Mexican businessmen and officials from the two governments on October 10-13, at Punta Mita in Mexico, to discuss "The challenges of the Latin American economy."
Among the speakers will be economist and president of LIDE Economia, Paulo Rabello de Castro, who will talk about "Brazil in Latin America and Latin America in the world." During the sequence, the businessman Paulo Skaf, President of FIESP (Federacao das Industrias do Estado de Sao Paulo – Federation of Industries of the State of Sao Paulo), will explain "The challenges of the Latin America economy."
The high point of the event will be the International Seminar, on October 12, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Hotel St. Regis. The Seminar will provide an opportunity to hear distinguished figures in Brazilian and Mexican politics and business talking about matters of interest to both countries.
This Meeting is the first Brazilian initiative to bring together a significant number of businessmen to strengthen relations and address important issues concerning the corporations and governments of different countries. In addition to the participation of key Brazilian CEOs and Mexican businessmen, the 17th INTERNATIONAL MEETING will also feature the presence of officials from both governments, among whom the following have been confirmed: President of the Federal Chamber of Deputies, Deputy Marco Maia; Governor of Minas Gerais, Antonio Anastasia; Senator Luiz Henrique da Silveira; Mexico's ambassador to Brazil, Alejandro De La Pena; and Brazil's ambassador to Mexico, Marcos Raposo.
Mexico was chosen to host this gathering because of its prominence on the economic scene and accelerated expansion, due in large part to its industrial sector, which has grown by approximately 5% over the past 18 months. According to a study by Banco UBS, the watershed event occurred in 2010, when the country registered GDP growth of 5.5%, in contrast to a 6.5% drop in 2009.
