MG International Fragrance Company (MG Gulcicek) can now boast the title for the world's highest-capacity fragrance plant under one roof. The new $65-million facility consisting of a 45,000 m2 plant, built on a 20,000 m2 plot in Gebze Industrial Zone just East of Istanbul, is expected to boost the company's annual production capacity by at least ten fold.

MG International Fragrance Company, a regional player, and supplier of fragrances to well-known international brands, was founded by Mişel Gülçiçek in 1961. It manufactures fragrance formulations exporting to 65 countries, including the UK, US, France, Saudi Arabia, and Russia. Through recent investments in R&D and an expanded production capacity, it aims to grow into one of the worlds' top ten companies within its sector in the next decade.

As the regional leader in fragrances, it is also pioneering by investing in Turkey's first synthesis and natural extraction facility located within this new complex. A 5,000 m2 area has been dedicated to innovation, organic synthesis and natural extract research. Within the next five years, it plans to substantially increase the number of raw materials it manufactures. A dedicated subsidiary unit, MG International Ingredients, is currently launching the first of these ingredients to global markets.

This new facility also represents an investment in its people, who on average spend 18 years working for the company. This new complex includes a fitness centre featuring a half Olympic size swimming pool, two saunas, and a gym. It also includes a 150-person conference centre with a state-of-the-art auditorium, meeting rooms, hotel accommodation for 44 guests, and a bistro-style restaurant offering employees and visitors daily complementary menus.

Various artworks are arranged throughout the plant accentuating its unique architecture. A world of fragrance production intermingles with contemporary art pieces, colourful ceramics, and brightly tinted glassworks. A Japanese garden decorated with wooden and ceramic designs embellished with granite and other stones graces the entrance, and similarly diverse greenery also covers the roof tops.

Through this investment in technology and capacity, MG International Fragrance Company's production facility sets-off a new trend seeking to inspire the company's employees and customers from around the world alike: a campus-style facility where human factor is the key element and the concurrence of fine arts, creation, and production of scents that enrich people's lives are done in an atmosphere of inspiration, rather than just an ordinary factory.
