Miami Voted Best City For Guys With Facial Hair

STERLING, Ill., May 20, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Sunshine, white sand and whiskers— it's a recipe for happiness anywhere, especially in Miami, where beards are abuzz. The city's let-it-grow lifestyle is why it now holds the title of Most Facial Hair Friendly City in America, according to an annual study from Wahl, the Official Sponsor of Facial Hair.
After a 15th place finish last year, Miami has rebounded handsomely. What's more, Miami's standing as the facial hair Promised Land was further cemented when the Miami Marlins joined Wahl in celebrating the city's whiskered citizens and fans in a weekend program to benefit charity.

Even the Marlins' team barber Hugo "Juice" Tandron is excited about Miami's facial hair accomplishment. "Whether they have facial hair or not, guys all around the league fly me out to make them look good," said Tandron. "And when they look good, they feel good, and I think it helps them play good."

While general facial hair popularity helped dictate the results of the study, notable facial-hair-related events contributed to the rankings. Last year's winner, Washington D.C., fell only one spot. Rounding out the top three was Dallas, a place where cowboys roam and are all but required to wear facial hair. Not surprising, Texas, a state with more beard and facial hair clubs per capita than almost anywhere else, was a big winner, boasting five facial hair friendly cities in the top 50. Party at Marlins Park
To celebrate Miami's accomplishment Wahl is kicking off its national Facial Hair Friendly Cities Tour on May 20, 2016 at Marlins Park. The event takes place on the West Plaza during Miami's three-game series with Washington. Fans are invited to visit and get a free mustache or beard trim prior to the games.
On Friday, May 20, Marlins Great Carl Pavano, whose talent helped the Marlins win it all in 2003, will be at the mobile barbershop to meet and greet fans at Marlins Park. Pavano has agreed to bring his iconic 2003 goatee out of retirement and to keep it for the rest of the baseball season.
"I'm extremely honored that Wahl asked me to get involved," said Pavano. "I sported facial hair for most of my professional baseball career and had a lot of success with it. Whether a goatee or a mustache, it's been with me to experience some of my greatest professional moments."
Facial Hair Friendly Cities Tour and Search for Best Facial Hair
Following the kick-off in Miami, Wahl will take its 30-foot mobile barbershop on the road to visit the 10 Most Facial Hair Friendly Cities in America. At each tour stop, Wahl's team of master barbers will give guys free facial hair trims for a good cause. For every trim, Wahl will donate $1 to ZERO, a charity that is leading the fight against prostate cancer.
Guys looking to get their facial hair sponsored can enter Wahl's Man of the Year contest. Dubbed the 'mane' event, the Wahl Man of the Year contest gives facial hair enthusiasts the chance to go mano a mano in a facial hair face-off. Wahl will select one guy from each tour stop location and one guy from online entries. These lucky few will be crowned champion of their city and go on to compete for the Wahl Man of the Year title.
The 10 finalists will each win $500 and a Lithium Ion+ Stainless Steel Trimmer. Online voting will help determine who wins the Grand Prize, which includes the title of Wahl Man of the Year, $1,500 and being featured in a national advertisement. The contest runs through Sept. 25, 2016.
