MIAX Options Reports August 2016 Trading Activity; Sets New Monthly and Daily Market Share Records; Remains #1 in Time at NBBO

PRINCETON, N.J., Sept. 1, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- MIAX Options Exchange today announced that over 22.5 million contracts were executed on MIAX Options in August 2016, equating to an average daily volume (ADV) of over 980,000 contracts. The August volume represents a 9.7% increase from the 20.5+ million contracts executed in July 2016 and a 10.5% decrease from the 25.2+ million contracts executed in August 2015. MIAX Options' year-to-date total as of August 2016 of over 168 million contracts represents a 1.0% increase over the 166+ million contracts achieved during the same time period in 2015. MIAX Options' August equity options market share of 7.81% established a new monthly record for the exchange, and represents an increase of 15.5% and 4.3% from the 6.76% and 7.49% achieved in August 2015 and July 2016, respectively. For the entire U.S. equity options industry, August's ADV was over 12.5 million contracts, or a 29.3% decrease from August 2015's ADV of over 17.7 million contracts.

On August 29^th MIAX Options also established its new single day market share records when it achieved 9.20% of national equity options volume and 8.27% of national equity and index options volume.

• During July 2016, MIAX Options ranked #1 out of all U.S. equity options exchanges in percentage of time at the National Best Bid/Offer (NBBO) in aggregate across all option classes. This marked the twelfth month in a row that MIAX Options achieved this distinction.
• During July 2016, MIAX Options ranked #1 out of all U.S. equity options exchanges in percentage of time at the NBBO in aggregate across all Penny Pilot option classes. This marked the eleventh month in a row that MIAX Options achieved this distinction. Statistics for both all option classes and Penny Pilot option classes were provided by the TABB Group.¹
