Michele Sansone Joins XL's North America Property Group as Eastern Regional Executive

NEW YORK, Oct. 11, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The Insurance segment of XL Group plc ("XL") (NYSE: XL) today announced a new addition to its North America Property team with the appointment of Michele Sansone as Senior Vice President and Eastern Regional Executive.  Reporting to Joseph Tocco, head of XL's North America Property unit, Ms. Sansone is based in New York and is responsible for managing XL's property underwriting activities throughout the Eastern US.

Ms. Sansone's new responsibilities for XL include overseeing property underwriting and broker relationships throughout the eastern US including XL's underwriting offices in New York, Atlanta, Boston and Charlotte.  XL's Property coverages include property damage & Business Interruption on a Named Perils and All Risks basis, with significant global wind, flood and earthquake capacity available.  Additionally, Ms. Sansone and her team coordinate risk engineering services for XL's property clients through XL Global Asset Protection Services (XL GAPS), its loss prevention consulting firm.

Ms. Sansone joins XL from Zurich NA where she served as Senior Vice President and Northeast Regional Manager, responsible for managing property underwriting operations in New York and Boston.   She began her 16-year tenure with Zurich when the company acquired the Home Insurance Group where she was a territorial underwriting manager. Following the acquisition, she was promoted to Property Team Leader and helped create Zurich's International Programs business.  Ms. Sansone began her underwriting career with AIG.
