Michigan Business & Professional Association: Source for Employee Health Care Marketplace Notifications
Members Can Complete This Mandatory Requirement at NO COST
WARREN, Mich., Aug. 28, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- To assist members in complying with the Affordable Care Act requirement that every employer must provide all employees with a notice regarding the Health Insurance Marketplace by October 1, the Michigan Business & Professional Association (MBPA) today announced that it is making the required notice available at no cost to members through its electronic member pavilion.
According to MBPA President and CEO Jennifer Kluge, the Department of Labor requires that one of two notices be sent to all employees. One notice is for employers who currently offer health insurance as an employee benefit, and the other notice is for employers who do not offer health insurance as an employee benefit. Going forward, new hires must receive the notice within 14 days of the start date of employment.
"We wanted to make it as convenient as possible for our members to comply with the ACA requirement so we created a secure, online form that they can complete, print and immediately distribute in person or via email to employees—free of charge," said Kluge. "We also have an option available for those employers who prefer to have us mail the notice to their employees' homes at a nominal cost," she continued.
Kluge noted that the system has the capability to save work in progress in the member's file for up to two weeks in case he/she is unable to complete the document in one sitting.
"This is one of the newest features added to the online Health Care Reform Connect™ that we established last year as a one-stop resource for information about ACA implementation," Kluge stated. "In addition to the online resources, we also issue special newsletters with the latest information and links to additional resources. The standard Health Care Reform Connect™ tools are augmented by MBPA experts who provide custom answers to specific compliance questions through the member email hotline," she concluded.
The Michigan Business & Professional Association boasts a statewide sphere of influence that no other organization of its kind can claim, leveraging a depth of programs and community initiatives that positively impact more than 150,000 businesses. Learn more at www.michbusiness.org.
